What is it that makes the ""Looking Ahead"" an undeniably successful album, so well received by, I believe, any sensitive listener? Firstly, it is the fact that musical impressions on the traditions that are beautifully embedded in the emotional memory of every cognizant listener have been compounded here into an indissoluble whole that could not have been shaped otherwise. Secondly – speaking of how the musical form is shaped – there is an almost telepathic communication between the composer and performers, the latter's deep engagement is especially visible in the ""oblique parts"" such as improvisation, the choice of dynamic nuances, or the shaping of the sound. This unquestionably is an outstanding record!
