about

Wojciech Lichtański - alto saxophone
Mateusz Śliwa - tenor saxophone
Alan Wykpisz - bass
Szymon Madej - drums

The incredibly close-knit sound of the front line, in combination with a remarkably energetic rhythm section give this band an exceptionally original sound, bringing the listener into a sort of musical trance and shared journey. Immediacy and unpredictability is the mixture that characterizes the Vehemence Quartet.

The quartet presents an original program, performed by musicians of the younger generation who've already earned various distinctions, as well as having worked with established artists such as R. Brecker, E. Henderson, J. Muniak, P. Wojtasik, G. Nagórski, J. Kochan, V. Sendecki and J. Stefański, to name a few. The quartet's musicians are outstanding instrumentalists, awarded both nationally and abroad. It's worth mentioning that Mateusz Śliwa is a winner of the prestigious Jazz Hoeilaart in Belgium, Alan Wykpisz - of BassCopenhagen 2012 in Denmark, while Wojciech Lichtański and Szymon Madej are both winners of the Grand Prix at the Zadymka Jazzowa Festival in Bielsko-Biała. As winners at the 7th International Azoty Jazz Competition in Tarnów, as well as the prestigious 51st Jazz on the Oder Festival, the Vehemence Quartet made a powerful entrance into the fraternity of noteworthy, vigorously functioning bands that represent the younger jazz scene in Poland
